The first Turn.io Chat for Impact Accelerator took place this week, with the August cohort representing a diverse group of 23 social impact organisations from across the globe.
Launched by Turn.io, with support from the Mulago Foundation, the cohort included the following organisations:
Accountability Lab, Chayn, CHANCEN International, doctHERs, Ecubed/DBE, Educate!, Educate Girls Foundation, Global School Leaders, Intelehealth, Intrahealth, Integrate Health, Jupiter Savings SA, Ladysmith, LRTT Limited Resource Teacher Training, Mind Piper, Network Action Group, Save the Children US - Asia, Shine Solutions, StrongMinds Inc, Tula Foundation, Ubongo Edutainment ,Warc Group ,YouthStart Foundation under the umbrella of Primestars
The Accelerator’s three-day programme has been designed to enable social impact organisations to set up and make use of secure chat platforms using Turn.io. Participants are being taken through a step-by-step programme including an overview of the Turn.io product and its tools and capabilities; successful impact use-cases; WhatsApp policies and guidelines; and how to design, launch and implement a chat solution on the WhatsApp Business API.
Among many other contributions, day two of the Accelerator saw participants hear directly from Kevin Starr, Mulago Foundation Head, on the key things to consider when creating impactful services.
“We would like to thank all the participants for their dedication to learn ways of having - and scaling - timely, personal and actionable conversations with their communities,” says Neelke Stadler, head of training at Turn.io.
“We look forward to seeing how they take this into their organisations.” In the coming months, Turn.io’s Chat for Impact Accelerator will continue to include organisations from different countries and verticals so that organisations are able to learn from each other through the process. All of these will be supported by the Chat for Impact online learning hub which is already live and features resources that provide further support and guidance to organisations.
