Cosas de Mujeres acts to prevent and respond to gender-based violence with WhatsApp-based platform

Cosas de Mujeres is an innovative WhatsApp-based information platform that builds bridges between women and services that prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
Meaning “things for women”, Cosas de Mujeres operates in the context of Colombia’s reconfiguring conflict and Venezuela’s humanitarian crisis - and the resulting mass migration.
Using a Turn.io powered WhatsApp platform, Cosas de Mujeres gives women the ability to access information about existing services related to gender-based violence - and also fosters social cohesion and inclusion between Colombian and Venezuelan women.
During the global pandemic, the platform additionally provides women with real-time information on COVID-19. Importantly, Cosas de Mujeres generates useful data to improve gender-based violence prevention and response. The data will provide an accurate picture of what kinds of services women actually need in the region.

Cosas de Mujeres is a project of Ladysmith - a women-owned Social Purpose Corporation that is using feminist research and advocacy to create a more just world. It was developed within the context of the largest mass migration in recent history in South America, which has seen women along the Colombia-Venezuela border experiencing extraordinary levels of gender-based violence.
Cosas de Mujeres is powered by Turn.io’s technology which was developed to help social impact organisation teams to have life-changing conversations at scale.
