Applications are now open for the Chat for Impact Accelerator taking place from 5-7 August 2020. The Accelerator, launched by Turn.io with support from the Mulago Foundation, will assist the global impact community to use chat platforms to have timely, personal, private and actionable conversations with their communities at scale.
The Chat for Impact Accelerator three-day programme will enable social impact organisations to set up and make use of secure chat platforms using Turn.io to connect with, support, and guide their end-users to better life outcomes.
Turn.io, a tool that enables teams to have personal, guided conversations at scale, currently works with over 70 social impact organisations reaching over 20 million users. Participants in the Accelerator will be taken through a step-by-step programme including an overview of the Turn.io product and its tools and capabilities; successful impact use-cases; WhatsApp policies and guidelines; and how to design, launch and implement an chat solution on the WhatsApp Business API.
The Accelerator will also help social impact organisations make use of other chat features, like location tracking, that can aid in real-time monitoring and response, as well as how to access valuable data and insights to guide planning. Each organisation will complete the Accelerator with an operational service running on their own WhatsApp account that will provide immediate, scalable benefit.
Organisations are invited to apply for the first open Accelerator with support from the Mulago Foundation taking place from 5-7 August 2020.
"Turn’s tools help high impact organisations connect, engage, guide and check-in with their clients, patients and customers. The ability to have a two-way conversation opens whole new worlds of impact," says Laura Hattendorf, Head of Grants and Investments at Mulago Foundation
Increasing the ability of social impact organisations to implement their own chat-based solutions has underpinned Turn.io's work since inception. In recent months, Turn's ability to be implemented at both speed and scale has been particularly visible. Early into the COVID-19 pandemic, the platform was leveraged to build the COVID-19 HealthAlert service for the South African National Department of Health, reaching over seven million users to date and for the World Health Organisation (WHO), reaching over 13 million users, as well as many other impact organisations and health ministries across the globe.
“We are thrilled to be launching the Chat for Impact Accelerator as we believe this has the potential to support the launch and sustainability of some of the most effective impact services in the world - during COVID-19 and beyond,” says Neelke Stadler, Head of Data Science and Learning at Turn.io.
Turn.io will also be hosting sector-specific Chat for Impact Accelerators in Agriculture, Education, Health and more as well as an online learning hub with resources provide further support and guidance to organisations.
